What is Milk Run?

Milk Run is a delivery method in which a truck makes multiple stops to pick up loads from different suppliers for a single customer. This practice originated in the dairy industry, where milkmen would make deliveries to customers along their route.

Milk Runs are also known as “multi-stop deliveries” or “milk rounds”. This delivery method is often used in just-in-time (JIT) production, as it allows for the timely delivery of parts or components to a manufacturing plant. Milk Runs are often more cost-effective than traditional delivery methods, as they reduce transportation costs and improve efficiency by consolidating multiple deliveries into one trip.
