FAQ
Unlike other freight forwarding platforms, Spotos is a subscription-free platform, so there are no recurring or registration charges. Placing freight orders through Spotos is free; shippers are charged and our success fee is applied only after the freight has been confirmed by the carrier.
Our smart freight pricing uses a reverse-auction-based algorithm. The algorithm leverages real-time market data to set the lowest available price for the shippers. Here’s how it works:
- Based on their freight details, shippers get real-time data-based price benchmarks;
- They can then use these benchmarks to set a preferred shipping price range for their freight order;
- The freight order appears on the carriers’ marketplace at the lowest selected rate;
- The freight auction rate increases within the set budget limits until a carrier accepts it.
There are no carrier bidding or third-party fees through Spotos, which makes our freight rates up to 30% lower and fully transparent.
Automated charges can be assigned if the carrier or the shipper has canceled a freight that has already been accepted. The charged amount will depend on how late the freight was cancelled. To find out more about the cancellation charges and their sizes, read here.
Shipping services can be paid for via online banking, bank transfer, or cards. All invoices and payments are processed through our platform, which makes it easier to get an overview of all historic freight payments.
Spotos offers carriers a 100% payment guarantee. As soon as the proof-of-delivery documents are uploaded and confirmed, we issue an invoice to the shipper. There is no need for carriers to issue invoices separately. The money is transferred to the carrier’s bank account within 30 days after POD documents confirmation.
Every Spotos carrier goes through our verification process, which includes uploading the necessary documentation (carrier license, liability insurance, proof of payment for liability insurance and certificate of entry in the business register). Carrier company details are then checked and verified by our internal teams to ensure they comply with our terms and can act as trusted partners in our marketplace.
