What is the Net Weight?

Net weight is the weight of the contents of a package. It excludes the weight of the package itself. This is displayed on the packaging of food and other consumer goods and is used to determine the volume or quantity of the product being sold.

In contrast to gross weight, which includes the weight of the packaging and other materials, the net weight is the product’s weight only. Net weight is often abbreviated as “Net Weight” on the packaging, and it is measured in pounds or kilograms.
